What data do I collect?
Personal Information. If you fill out a form on this website to receive a free book, discounted book, my newsletter, or other promotional item(s), you provide your (a) name and (b) email address. These two pieces of information are the only bits of Personal Information I request, collect, and retain. You don’t have to give me this Personal Information, but by declining to fill out the form I won’t be able to send you the item(s) you want or news about future books.
Reader Comments. If you use the About webpage form to leave a book review or a compliment, I might want to reprint it with your name to promote the book to new readers. Or I won’t reprint it if you specifically ask me not to use it. If I misunderstand your permission or if you change your mind, you may ask to have your review or compliment removed by emailing [email protected].
Demographic Information. Third Party plugins or services may record your IP address to create a general profile of your IP address’s city, state, country, age range, interests, purchases, etc. This generic information is not linked to your (a) name or (b) email address.
How do I collect your data?
You provide your Personal Information when you type your information into a webpage form.
You provide your Demographic Information when you interact with the website by ‘clicking’ on menus, links, and images.
How will I use your data?
I use your Personal Information to:
- Send you the item(s) you requested.
- Subscribe you to my newsletter and/or the reader group you requested.
- Send you offers on books, newsletters, groups, or other products you might like.
- Create a “look alike” group of individuals with interests like yours. A third-party service, such as Facebook, may examine a list of M Brown subscribers to create a list of Facebook users they think will have a similar interest in science fiction romance books. This use does not give Facebook permission to keep your Personal Information or use it to contact you.
I will not sell, swap, or give your Personal Information to anyone. I always try to comply with applicable laws as I understand them. Let me know if I mess-up and I’ll try to fix it.
How do I store your data?
A couple times a year I might email an offer of other books, newsletters, groups, or products you might like. Each offer will include an ‘unsubscribe’ link at the bottom of the email if you feel you are receiving too many of these.
